I think using that in your writing not only disrupts the flow and introduces an element of “surprise”, a pattern interrupt essentially into the scene but… a little bit of comic relief to get your attention.
People tend to glaze over when everything happens as they expect, but when something different happens. they tend to pay a little bit more attention.
