"If you’re struggling to see beauty in the world, or you feel down in the dumps and uninspired — put the pen down and press play." My go-to trick as well. Great writing and points as always.
It doesn’t surprise me you mentioned Haruki Murukami. I’ve been getting into him lately, and I usually don’t read fiction. I started with Kafka on the Shore.
I'm the same, man. A lot of fiction fails to catch me, but then you come across a book or author that shatters that like a house of bricks coming down.
This resonated so deeply with me - my parents loved The Doors ("Riders on the Storm" was a personal favorite of my mom's), and they loved to go for drives. Music was definitely a huge part of that. My childhood self equates Blondie's "Angel on the Balcony" with night driving (along with the rest of their Auto American album). Thank you for sharing this evocative piece!
Music has always been really powerful for me. Such a strong anchor. To this day, hearing specific music or types of beats can instantly bring me to tears with the emotions they stir.

Thanks, brother!

And I bet in the ol’ days, it was Stephen King and Lord of the Rings.

I’m proud to say I know what that is. Take that Gen Zs 😀
I read Haruki Murukami's Dance Dance Dance many years ago. I don't remember much of the workds but still remember the shock of reading it.
Music would be the same, great songs made you feel things long after you forgot the words or even the melody.
Music sometimes can just push the right buttons for me.
Sometimes it unlocks emotions that I buried within. And I feel purified.
Sometimes it puts my brain into the right mode and almost puts me in a state of hyper-creative productivity.

Great way to describe it.
